You may know that sunlight is made up of all the colors of the rainbow, which are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet (which are also known as the colors of the rainbow). Sunlight has to pass through the atmosphere before it reaches our eyes. The gas molecules scatter the sunlight into many parts. Some scatter more effectively than others.
